My Favorite Season!

The springtime air gently awakens the senses.

The birds call out, as calm and thankfulness come to mind.

Songs, poetry and paintings have been created in its honor.

Life arises from the earth, forgiving of its former-frigid state.

You’re prompted to join forces as this phenomena cannot be denied.

We, eventually, exit our concrete structures to bask in nature’s Picasso.

Humbly presenting life’s masterpiece, just as the oceans, bow to the tides!

What Words Will Find Me?

As a child likens to chase butterflies, who seeks whom?

Is it mere happenstance, or is it nature’s way?

Will the words present themselves, or refuse disclosure?

As patience captures precedence, and, mastery, composure!

Let’s Dance!

I’ve always been a fan of the dance formally known as “banter”.

A little soft shoe, perhaps some Charleston, ending with the foxtrot.

A complimentary partner.

Constantly one step ahead, contemplating my next move.

A witty exchange, embodying all of Chess’ pieces.

Reserving, the key components for the ultimate finale.

As we simultaneously bow our heads, and the curtain falls.

The Needle, and the Spoon!

Only, a few are spared the loss of a loved one to the grim reaper, known as heroin.

We send cards listing sympathies, along with personal sentiments.

We attend wakes and funeral rituals, dutifully obliging tradition.

We listen and watch helplessly as the tears, they flow, and comfort does not find them.

We choose our words carefully, out of fear of appearing insensitive.

The daily news serves as a reminder of the epidemic, we’ve come to know.

We formulate programs and initiate measures to aid us in this awful plight.

Helplessness surrounds us as the flames of addiction seeks its next victim.

Its appetite, never fully satiated.

Inevitably, the lives of those with opiate-filled syringes begin to spiral down.

Just, as another batch of sugar finds its way; to our vastly, receding town!
